A video can carry several audio tracks and several caption tracks. In the player they sit in one menu; managing them happens in the editor's Tracks tab. This guide shows both, and every way a caption track can be added.
1. The menu in the player
The captions and audio button in the control bar lists every caption track and every audio track the video has. Pick one and TvT remembers the choice for your profile.

2. The Tracks tab
Open All actions, then Edit video, and switch to Tracks. Audio tracks come first, caption tracks below.

Click an audio track's name to rename it. DEF makes a track the default, the one that plays for anyone who has not picked their own. The trash removes a track, as long as one remains.
3. Adding a caption track
Add caption track offers four sources:
- Retrieve from source: pulls the subtitle streams out of the original file. Image subtitles can be kept as they are or, with an OCR pack from AI Settings, converted to text.
- Auto-generate: transcribes the audio on this computer with a Whisper model from AI Settings.
- Upload a file: a VTT or SRT file.
- Create manually: an empty track you write yourself.

Whatever the source, every cue is open for editing afterwards: the text, the start, and the end. Add line adds a cue, and Raw file shows the whole track as WebVTT for editing as text.

4. Preview, remove, and back to the player
CC next to a track previews it on the editor's player, to check the timing. The trash removes a track. Back in the player, the menu lists the new tracks.

Good to know
- Auto caption on a watch folder (Video Locations) does the same for every new video automatically, by retrieving from the source or with Whisper.
- Whisper models and OCR packs are downloaded and managed under AI Settings, Captions.
- Manage Videos has Add subtitles in every row menu, which opens the same dialog.
